There’s only one full day before the end of 2018 and during this time I find myself asking what is ahead? Instead of giving you all a post on my health, I figured now would be the best time to reflect on the year I’ve had. I also want to write about what I plan to do for the new year as well.

I’ve got a lot that I have planned and a good portion of it is directed towards this blog. After all, writing content on this blog is still important to me. But I’d like to contribute more to this.

Reflecting

As some of you may know, I’ve been a writer for a little over three years now. Ever since the start, this blog has been around and it’s gone through a lot. I’ve changed the look of it several times, removed pages, and more.

But throughout my writing, this is the first actual year I’ve started to take my writing seriously. It started off when I started to write on Medium and joined a Facebook group of writers too around July 2017.

From there I moved to freelance writing by March 2018 and have been growing more as a writer.

It’s thanks to this push that I’ve gone from making about a thousand dollars in 2017 to making almost $5,000 (Canadian) this year!

It’s not a lot, but it still is progress.

I’m one step closer to being able to move forward with my life.

On top of that progress, I’ve also surprised myself a few other times. Like how I managed to enter a weight loss challenge and succeed in it.

Despite those few instances, this year felt a little lacklustre for me. I’m happy with that growth, but I felt like it wasn’t enough.

So What Will I Do For 2019?

Considering where I’m at in life the next step for me is simple:

I want to challenge myself further.

What is ahead of me is a more challenging year with some challenging goals. But they don’t seem like it at first.

My big goals for 2019 are these:

I want to drop down to 175 lbs.

I also want to consistently earn $2,000 a month.

And above all, I want to be able to maintain those positions over the year.

It doesn’t sound difficult but it is.

For my weight loss, keep in mind that I was following a strict diet (which I still have) paired with intense exercises. That was for the purpose of those six weeks.

And as far as wealth goes, my average monthly income for the year was about $400.

So I’m going to need to work harder and smarter to hit my targets.

But why tell us this?

You may be asking. Because announcing your goals this publicl is not always a bright idea.

The reason I want to do this goes along with my overall vision for this blog. I want to use this blog further and the best way for me to do that is to talk a little more about me.

At the same time though, it’s not always going to be about me. Sure my name is on the website, but I want to share with you things that I’ve learned. Things that have helped me on these journeys and can help you.

So by understanding what my goals are and where I want to go, you have context. You’re not going to be second guessing what my goals are.

The only thing you don’t know is the steps I’m taking. And for that, I’ll share that along the way.

The Steps

And speaking of steps, I already have a few ideas bubbling in my head. In general, how I’ll be boosting my income is making more income streams while growing existing ones. For my health, it’s exercising, eating properly, and doing other physical activities.

This is key to know because those are intentions and thus have become smaller steps for me to work towards. Steps like writing on this blog more, writing on Medium and working on other projects. For health, it’s merely exercising.

And I’m sure things will be different. After all, this is the first year where I’m earning a decent amount of money. This means I can get out and be more active. Not to mention it makes for great content fodder.

What Is Ahead

What is ahead is something that I’m excited to be sharing with you all. It’ll be nice to be getting back to writing on this blog again. Sitting down and writing this post now has made me realize how much I missed writing on here.

And of course my aim this time isn’t going to be writing all about me, but to help you all too. My writing skills have developed enough that I can do a pretty good job at that.

And those skills will be translated to my other content as well.

You might’ve noticed over on my Youtube channel that I’ve been making videos again. I’ve taken a short break from posting, but I’ll be back soon. Either way the new playlist – Quora Answers – is a series of videos revolving around self-improvement and answering specific questions. These questions are questions I find on Quora, a Q&A social media platform.

But this mentality is also going to be transferred to my mailing list. Over this year I’ve sent out almost a year’s worth of “Positive Notes”, but I feel they’re lacking. Instead, I want to focus on a weekly newsletter series for 2019 talking about goals.

Goals are everything and they are key to living a positive life. So I want to be guiding people along. But also learning from you guys.

This email series will be starting up January 6th, 2019 at 1 PM AST. So if you want all of them, you’re going to need to subscribe before that date.

Thank you so much for your support over this year. I’m hoping that you will continue to support and join me in welcoming this new year!

To your growth!

Eric S Burdon
