This past week I’ve been doing a few things. For one I’ve been consistently doing my situps and pushups. However I haven’t been talking much about the hashtag that I put up, let alone use it. In other words, I need to get serious about a few things myself.
For myself, it’s a matter of going out there and doing it. Writing it down and taking action. For a lot of people that is very much the same solution when you find yourself in that kind of situation.
However with how we work, we come up with a variety of reasons to not get serious about goals.
So here is your reminder.
Get serious about your goals
What is the number one obstacle that is in your way right now?
Take the time to ask yourself that question. As always, the first step to fixing a problem is knowing what the problem is.
Follow that answer up with how you’ll address the problem. What exactly can you do right now to fix it. As I always say there is a solution to every problem that you can take. It only takes time to realize it.
Remember you have great resources
Another way to get serious about your goals is to remind yourself that you have great resources at your disposal. As a reminder: at the time I am writing this, I am living in my parents basement. Yes it may be sad for a lot of people, but think more about what I’ve done. I’ve published a book, have written great pieces for years and have met some incredible people.
My point is being resourceful is the only real resource you actually need. There was a time where Oprah was jobless and growing up she had a terrible childhood.
So put together a plan
Whether this plan is a list of tasks and goals you want to complete or a chart that you can throw together, go and create it. Take a little bit of time to put that together. It is your map and compass in a sense.
The planning stage as always is the easy and the quickest part. You make adjustments as you go along and continue to progress.
And of course, take action, get serious about it
Take the leap. I am continuing to push myself through this. Even though there are several points where I don’t feel like it, I do it anyway. Because in the end, the person that cares the most about you is you.
So take the commitment, get serious about your goals, and push yourself to the very limit you can go. Learn from the failures, and revel in the success only to set the bar higher.
To your growth!
